Dear Falcons - Welcome to Fitchburg State Magazine, our new digital platform where we will be sharing stories about the accomplishments of our alumni and the latest news about our students, faculty and staff.

This digital model represents a new direction for the university, one we hope will resonate with our readers. We conducted a survey last year that showed a great deal of interest in a digital publication, especially if it would be complemented by a printed component. That’s the direction we have taken, with a condensed print run that will give readers a glimpse of the stories they can read in full on this website.

Here, our stories are presented in an easy-to-read typeface, with large photos. If a story lends itself to including a video or slideshow of images, you can find those embedded within the articles. The stories are organized into easily scrolled categories, so if you’re just looking to read about the accomplishments of our alumni, you can find them grouped in that category, or if you just want to read whatever’s been posted lately, click on “recent stories” and go in order. This site is also designed to be optimized to whatever device our visitors are using to read it, whether it’s a desktop computer or a mobile phone.

Also, all individual stories may now be shared on your social media channels to help spread the word about accomplished members of our community. And unlike the traditional alumni magazine that was printed twice a year, we plan to post new stories to this site throughout the year, so be sure to visit often.

Our survey also showed us that class notes and in memoriam notices were of great value to our readers. We will continue to curate those elements here, but in a more robust fashion, with search capabilities and hyperlinks.

I hope you will enjoy this new approach to a classic concept, as we celebrate the collective impact of our Falcons across the world. We are also happy to receive feedback at magazine@fitchburgstate.edu. Thanks for reading.
