Fitchburg State is located in a residential section of Fitchburg, the urban center of North Worcester County. It's approximately 25 miles north of Worcester, 50 miles west of Boston and 15 miles south of New Hampshire. The compact campus of 32 buildings on 48 acres is easily accessible by car, bus, or train from all areas of New England.

Directions

From Within Massachusetts

Take Interstate 91, 190 or 495 to Rte. 2 to the Rte. 12 North exit (99B). Travel north on Route 12 for 2.8 miles, then turn right immediately after Enterprise Car Rental. Turn right again, on Main St., after crossing the bridge. Take the second left onto North Street (at the Dunkin' Donuts). The University is located three blocks up.

From New Hampshire

Take Rte. 12, 13 or 31 to Fitchburg. Follow directions given above for Massachusetts locations.

From Connecticut

Take either Interstate 91 or 84 to the Massachusetts Turnpike, exiting north onto Interstate 290 in Auburn. Follow 290 to Interstate 190 north to Rte. 2, and follow directions given above for Massachusetts locations.

From Rhode Island

Take Rte. 146 north to Interstate 290 through Worcester exiting onto Interstate 190. Follow instructions for Massachusetts locations.

Daily MBTA trains to and from Boston stop on Main Street in Fitchburg. Cross Main Street to North Street (at the Dunkin' Donuts). The University is three blocks north.

Buses from Boston stop at the intersection of Routes 2 and 12. Cab or local bus service to the University is available from that stop.

Local air transportation services are provided by the Fitchburg Colonial Aviation Company, a fixed-base airline that operates from the Fitchburg Municipal Airport, located in the southeastern section of the city. The company offers executive jet service and charter flights on a 24-hour basis.

The Fitchburg Municipal Airport is a modern, beacon-equipped facility with two illuminated, paved runways. The airport is capable of handling four-engine aircraft up to 33,000 pounds per wheel. There also are several helicopter landing sites.

Fitchburg is situated close to two larger airports. The Worcester Municipal Airport, about 30 miles away, offers daily flights to cities throughout the United States. Logan International Airport in Boston is about 50 miles away.

Parking on Campus

Parking permits for students, faculty and staff are issued through Housing and Residential Services, and enforcement at university lots is provided by the Campus Police.
