University Branding and Visual Identity Requirements

Presenting a strong visual identity is a critical part of our efforts to promote the university brand, recruit students, and display brand recognition. Visual brand consistency is paramount across multiple platforms.

  • Brochures
  • Web and social media pages (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.)
  • Advertisements (print and digital)
  • Promotional materials for events (poster, banners, signs, swag)
  • Business cards
  • Stationery
  • Novelty items
  • Clothing
  • Electronic messages

These guidelines help the university departments, organizations, and clubs communicate more effectively, while also building the university's brand and image. Proper use of our design elements eliminates confusion and presents a sense of coherence in our communications. Any visual elements must follow the official and approved university brand guidelines below.

To help you navigate through this information, you can use the links below to quickly find the information you need to meet these requirements.

If you have any questions regarding any of this information, please contact marketing@fitchburgstate.edu.

Logos

Three graphic components: the logo, the seal, and the falcon—are used to express the university's identity. The horizontal university logo is the graphic element most often used in communication. At least one of these elements must be included on any Fitchburg State University produced print or digital collateral.

Avoid rotating, changing, altering, or adding additional features to any approved logos.

Borders and embellishments should not be added to the logo or seal.

The use of other symbols and logos by campus departments and organizations is NOT allowed, particularly on publications (either print or digital) intended for or may be accessible to all audiences, both internal and external. Departments, programs, university partners and student organizations may request an official departmental logo from Print Services.

If you need a different file format (i.e. EPS (Vector Art)) contact Print Services.

Colors

  • The university colors are green and yellow. Printing ink Pantone colors are 343 C Green, and 123 C Yellow.
  • In order to present a consistent look please use these color values: Green RGB (10 86 64) or HEX (0A5640). Yellow RGB (255 199 42) HEX (FFC72A).
  • For details on proper use of the colors in specific contexts, please email Print Services printservices@fitchburgstate.edu or call 978.665.3394 for more information.

Fonts

  • The use of a variety of fonts in a single piece diminishes the impact. All uppercase and bold type should be used sparingly.
  • For written text, many fonts are available for use. However, it is recommended that one font style be selected for headings and one for body text.
  • Artwork using the logo font must be arranged through Print Services.

Additional Required Information

  • The university's full, official name, Fitchburg State University, must appear on all materials, digital and print. The less formal usage, for second reference, is Fitchburg State—not FSU (since those initials also refer to other institutions).
  • Stationery with the university logo and address is available. For reasons of consistency and cost, all departments must use official university letterhead, business cards, and envelopes.
  • Clear content and careful proofreading are essential.
  • Sample designs and assistance in implementing them are available from Print Services.
