Fitchburg State University will be closed, and all classes are canceled, on Wednesday, July 12 because of a power outage. The campus will be notified when power is restored.

This is a Fitchburg State Alert. Crews are continuing to work to restore electrical service to campus following weather-related disruptions that caused flooding and equipment damage. While the replacement parts have been identified, we are experiencing delays in delivery.

Because of the ongoing conditions, the university will remain closed on Wednesday, July 12, and all classes will again be canceled. Only essential personnel will be required to report to campus.

An electrical transformer on campus experienced water incursion last night, resulting in a campus-wide power outage. Capital Planning and Maintenance and other crews are on campus addressing the situation.

Because of the outage, the university is closed today, July 11. Only certain essential personnel are required to report to campus. Employees should contact their supervisors for clarification on whether they are essential in this situation.

The timeframe for mitigation is unclear. An update will be provided by email between 1 and 3 p.m. today.
