Study abroad students can travel almost anywhere in the world, although your options may be determined by how comfortable you are with travel.
Choose the comfort level that best describes you:
- I want to travel, but I’ve never done it before and I’m nervous.
- I’m confident, but could use a little guidance.
- I’m ready to travel on my own.
I want to travel, but I’ve never done it before
Do you love the idea of travelling abroad and aren’t sure where to begin? Or would you simply rather travel alongside fellow classmates and an experienced faculty member?
Either way, this is probably the best option for you.
Faculty-led programs include Fitchburg State courses taught by our faculty and require no transfer of credits. They are 100% faculty led and typically run a few weeks to one month.
You’ll stay with your group the whole time. It’s a great way to see another part of the world without venturing out on your own.
I’m confident, but could use a little guidance
If you’re confident about traveling abroad, you may consider direct enrollment in one of our partner universities for a semester. You are certainly welcome to consider a faculty-led program as well.
Direct enroll programs offer a traditional exchange experience. You’ll live abroad for an academic semester, and attend class at one of our partner institutions. In a direct enroll program, you’ll be responsible for paying Fitchburg State tuition and fees as you normally would. Additional fees would come in the form of transportation costs, housing and a student visa.
I’m ready to travel on my own
If you’re comfortable with traveling on your own, then you can choose between any of our options. Faculty-led or direct enroll programs are available, but you can also consider a provider option that may afford you more freedom.
If you are interested in study abroad for a semester, an entire academic year, a summer term, or a winter term, Fitchburg State is affiliated with the following study abroad providers. Study abroad providers design programs that provide a high level of student support, usually including very detailed pre-departure and orientation programs, a resident on-site program director, comprehensive insurance packages, and multiple excursions.
