Rala Diakité is a full professor in the Humanities Department who joined Fitchburg State in 2004. She received her M.A. and Ph.D from Brown University in Italian Studies.

Rala teaches courses in Italian Language and Culture, and occasionally French Language. Her areas of scholarly interest include Medieval Studies, Dante and Medieval Literature, Contemporary Cinema, and Food Studies.

Rala helped to develop the Verona summer study abroad program, and teaches courses there. In her free time, she enjoys playing jazz piano.
