Archives & Special Collections
We collect, organize, preserve, and make available administrative records and historical materials that document the academic, professional, and social activities of the university and the surrounding community.
Our collections include:
- University administrative records, correspondence, and other materials totaling nearly 500 boxes.
- Student, staff and alumni organization records, graduate theses, and faculty publications.
- Digital Archives that document the history of the university and the local area, including photographs, slides, audio, and video.
- Special collections has approximately 40 collections, totaling over 300 boxes, from individuals and groups of interest to scholars, students, and community members. These collections include the records of social clubs, community organizations, local historians, residents, and authors.
- Records and other materials related to the history of Fitchburg, Massachusetts.
- 2,500 books representing our collection areas
- Art Collection
The Archives & Special Collections are accessible to members of the university community, alumni, scholars and the public. The archive is located on the Street Level of Hammond Hall, Room S03.
The Archives & Special Collections Librarian is available by appointment Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Evening or weekend hours can be arranged with advance notice.
