New URL for Library Website

Over the past few months, the Library has been working with the Technology Department and iFactory, the university's website support, to migrate the library website to the main Fitchburg State University website. We completed the work yesterday and the site is now live.

The new library website URL, https://www.fitchburgstate.edu/library, replaces our old URL, https://library.fitchburgstate.edu.

We have redirected the old URL for the library’s main page so if you continue to use it, you will be directed to the new library website. However, if you have any library website pages bookmarked that are secondary pages, we encourage you to update them. If you need assistance doing so, please contact your departmental librarian liaison or email reference@fitchburgstate.edu.  Note: if you use one of the library’s many research guides in your classes those URLs have not changed..  

There have been no substantive changes to the library website design and layout.  In fact, aside from the URL change, you may not notice any differences.  You will continue to have the same functionality that you have always had. 

Why did we make this change? There were several reasons. First, the new hosting site and content management platform better protects us from cybersecurity threats. Second, we wanted to switch to a cloud-hosted platform to reduce server maintenance work.  Lastly, by sharing the same platform, host provider, and website support with the main Fitchburg State website, we hope to increase staff and financial efficiencies.
